Notes: Prior to surgery we discussed lateral vs. vertical approach. Either probably would work here, but due to the sloping medial wall and the amount of lift that would be needed, laterals seemed like a safer approach. Also, we discussed working around the already-existing implant. The crown was removed during the surgery to facilitate access and visibility, and the flap was designed to avoid exposed bone around the implant site.
During the surgery, an implant was placed. The sequence was to do the lift and pack bone against the medial wall. The implant was then placed, followed by more bone packed around it.
